The Bell Way

We have spent over 40 years building and establishing ‘The Bell Way’, we know that it’s just as important to focus on the journey, as it is to focus on the end result. Our People Strategy involves engaging local communities and in particular centres on areas where we can help assist with social mobility through our well-established career pathway.

The Bell Global strategy aims to take the Bell way around the world, spreading the word about ethical business and showing how businesses can be economically successful whilst having a positive social impact.

In Britain our teams are rolling out our Safer Homes initiative, a programme crafted to assist our clients and their customers in maintaining a secure and safe home environment. The initiative is centred around delivering enjoyable and informative sessions for the local community, covering key topics such as mould and damp prevention, decorating tips, Fire Safety (in collaboration with the Local Fire and Rescue Service), protection from online and door-to-door scams (in partnership with the local police force), and Energy Saving Advice (provided by local energy-saving charities).

The pilot of this initiative was launched in partnership with Places for People Scotland and was a great success. We have since held two further sessions, one in Cumbria with Riverside Housing and another in Exeter with Sanctuary Housing, both receiving excellent feedback.

Northern Ireland

Our CB Contracts team in Northern Ireland have been busy in and around Belfast. We are currently working with Choice Housing to deliver their external painting contract and our CEC Sara has been looking at different ways we can help the surrounding communities and provide them with as much support as we can.

We were delighted to be able to donate sleeping bags to The Welcome Organisation which will help some of the homeless people living on the streets of Belfast. They help people affected by homelessness through a range of services including a Drop-in Centre, Street Outreach service, Crisis Accommodation for Women, Floating Support service, Catherine House supported accommodation for women and our Mobile Health Unit.

United States

Further afield the Bell SPI team in Denver, Colorado have been taking part in their annual Paint-A-Thon with the Brother Redevelopment team. During its long, successful run, the Paint-A-Thon has painted more than 7,500 local house exteriors with the help of more than 133,000 volunteers.

Painting a home exterior can cost upward of $5,000—a huge expense for any homeowner. The Paint-A-Thon program offers local elderly and/or disabled residents the chance to save big and devote their savings to their other important costs, such as medication, groceries and bills, while still maintaining their most important investment—their home.

We are so proud to see our teams across the world going above and beyond to give back to their local communities, striving to make a difference and ensuring that Bell leave a positive social impact wherever we go.
