The Project

Internal Decoration Programme

Type of works:

• Internal decorations to 7 High Rise Flats, 12 Low Rise Flats and Housing Stock.
• Application of Fire retardant coatings in communal areas identified by Fire Risk Assessments.
• Areas include Communal Areas, Staircases, Corridors, Toilets, Internal Doors, woodwork and previously painted internal surfaces

Delivery:

As all of the internal decorations are planned we first of all get the details of the areas to be decorated and then survey the works alongside the specification provided to provide an accurate cost to YHN. Once approved we will have a pre-start meeting with YHN to arrange timings to start the works.

On site we can have up to 12 decorators working in one location, this will include a working foreman and a contracts manager who will visit site daily to ensure that the high quality of work required by YHN is being met, that the processes we are using meet with the Crown specification and that we are working to programme. The contracts manager also meets the with YHNs Technical Surveyor on a weekly basis to discuss the quality of work and to advise of the programmes progress. Once all of the works are complete, we do a walk round with YHN and have the works signed off as approved.

Apprentices:

Currently on the internal decorations for YHN we have two 2^nd year apprentices. Each of them work alongside a mentor and attend Newcastle College as part of CITB’s programme to become fully qualified.

We also offer DIY training days to residents and on occasions will do a skip day to help tidy the community and make it better place to live.
