Building Momentum: Strategy, Culture and the Future of Our Business

4 weeks ago by Bell Group

There’s something energising about the start of a new financial year. It’s a natural moment to reset, refocus and look ahead, and that’s exactly what’s been happening across our business. In May, our Strategy Delivery Board reconvened, marking the next phase in delivering our ambitious five-year business strategy, first introduced at last year’s inaugural Bell Conference.

In a sector often defined by responsiveness and reliability, we are intentionally stepping beyond day-to-day operations to future-proof our business, through innovation, inclusion and disciplined delivery.

Our sector continues to move quickly. Clients expect more than maintenance services; they expect insight, efficiency, sustainability and digital integration. At the same time, workplace expectations are evolving, with employees placing greater value on purpose, flexibility and meaningful career development.

Our Strategy Delivery Board brings these priorities together. Designed to drive accountability and momentum, it not only sets direction but ensures consistent delivery across the business.

People First, Always

At the heart of this strategy is people. The industry-wide challenge of recruitment and retention continues, and we are addressing it directly. There is a clear focus on making Bell a place where people want to work, and importantly, where they choose to stay.

This means creating a working environment where individuals feel supported, included and empowered to develop. A diverse workforce is not only a cultural strength; it directly enhances the quality of service we provide. Flexibility, wellbeing and meaningful career progression are no longer optional, they are essential to building a strong, sustainable business.

A clear shift is also underway in how we operate. By bringing more services and expertise in-house, we are strengthening internal capability, improving consistency and enhancing quality across delivery. This approach gives clients greater confidence while fostering a stronger sense of ownership and pride within our teams.

Alongside this, we are adopting smarter and more connected ways of working. By using technology to streamline processes, improve accuracy and make better use of data, everyday tasks become faster, clearer and more efficient. Enhanced communication also plays a vital role, keeping teams informed, connected and aligned with the wider business strategy.

Looking ahead is a key priority. By building a strong pipeline of future work and shifting from reactive decision-making to a more proactive, planned approach, we are creating greater stability, resilience and long-term confidence.

At the core of this is alignment, bringing teams and departments together so that everyone is working towards shared goals. When people feel informed, connected and part of something bigger, progress is not only faster, but stronger and more sustainable.

A Business That’s Moving Forward

Ultimately, this next phase of our strategy is about building momentum. It’s about creating a business that doesn’t just respond to change, but actively shapes it, one that is forward-thinking, built on a strong and inclusive culture, and focused on delivering real value for clients.

In a sector where trust, reliability and long-term relationships are critical, getting this balance right is essential. As the year progresses, the foundations are firmly in place, not only to meet expectations, but to raise them.
